Super Junior claims Mutizen triple crown on Inkigayo 2010 World Cup Special

Having been off air for the past fortnight due to the Dream Concert 2010 and World Cup 2010 documentary broadcasts, SBS’s No.1 music program Inkigayo finally made its return on June 13th with its 576th episode!

And what better than to have a World Cup 2010 special episode, especially in the aftermath of South Korea’s World Cup opener win against Greece last night by 2-0, thanks to goals from defender Lee Jung Soo and captain Park Ji Sung.

With 2PM’s Taecyeon and Wooyoung away in the States for the Wonder Girls tour, Super Junior’s Leeteuk and Shindong partnered f(x)’s Sulli for today’s episode.

And Super Junior were the big winners this afternoon as they collected their Mutizen triple crown all in one afternoon for their hit song, BONAMANA.

There was a special stage performance of Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend by f(x)’s Victoria, Krystal and After School’s Jooyeon, Nana and Lizzy.

Three of them are squeezing in such a small sofa. Donghae use Eunhyuk's lap as pillow while siwon use donghae's body as mattress! Are you guys screaming now?

SUJU’s “Victory Korea” On ESPN

Super Junior’s World Cup anthem “Victory Korea” is in the running for ESPN’s ( Entertainment Sports Programming Network) Best World Cup Inspired Song. Super Junior’s song is going up against big international competition the likes of Shakira’s “Waka Waka,” Akon’s “Oh Africa,” and K’Naan’s “Wavin’ Flag.”
But, thanks to a heavy dose of E.L.F. fan girling, it is now in the lead with 93% of the nearly 11,000 votes.

ESPN has also posted a brief SUJU group bio for those non-Kpopper football/soccer fans.

Breakdown: The 2010 World Cup marks the first time that both North and South Korea have qualified for the same World Cup since separating in 1948. In fact, this is North Korea’s first appearance at a World Cup since its quarterfinal run in 1966. So in promoting a Korean heavy impact in South Africa, South Korean boy band Super Junior, or simply SuJu, came out with a unifying Korean anthem for the upcoming World Cup. And in case you were wondering why they’re called Super Junior, they have 13 members, making them one of the largest boy bands in the world. And now you know. “Victory Korea” will also advance the upcoming film “Dreams Come True,” which is about North and South Korean soldiers uniting through soccer.

Drama : IRIS flops in Japan!~

IRIS korean drama hit at Korean nation,but  it seems they can survive at Japan..why?

Two weeks ago, cast members of the South Korean TV drama series “Iris” appeared in concerts at Osaka Castle Hall and Saitama Super Arena. Some 60,000 fans of the star Lee Byung Hun bought tickets, but 1,400 at one of the Saitama events found themselves shut out after the organizers decided that the stage wasn’t big enough.

The organizers set up a second stage on the day of the concert, but due to a lack of communication between them and the promoters they didn’t realize until just before the doors opened that the area where they erected it had been set aside for standing-room ticket holders.

Apparently, there were a lot of very angry housewives — Lee’s Japanese fan base — because media reports mentioned that a dozen policemen had to be called in.

The fans were eventually given seats in the upper tiers of the cavernous arena, and Lee came out to apologize personally for the hourlong delay, promising to “perform more than I had prepared to.”

Shin Seung Hoon, Baik Ji Young, Kim Tae Woo and the K-pop vocal group Bigbang were on hand to sing songs associated with the show, but most of the “concert” was taken up with interviews. Lee and his costars also re-enacted some scenes from the series.

The concerts were presented by TBS, which is airing “Iris” in Japan. It’s the first South Korean drama series broadcast by a Japanese commercial TV network during prime time on a terrestrial station, but, unlike Lee at the Super Arena, it has performed much less than it was expected to. TBS paid ¥400 million for the rights to the series, and on April 21, the day it premiered, Lee and his female costar, Kim Tae Hee, appeared on almost every news and variety show on the network.

The result was a middling 10.1 percent viewer share that night, and it’s gotten worse. Ratings for the second episode was 8.8 percent, and for the next five it hovered in the 7 percent range, which means “Iris” is currently the lowest rated show in its Wednesday night time slot. TBS hoped the concerts would reignite interest, but the people who bought tickets were already sold on the series, and while the rest of the media covered the concerts, such PR effectiveness apparently reached its saturation point a while ago.

It’s easy to see why TBS thought it would be a hit. “Iris” was a ratings monster when it was broadcast in South Korea last fall, scoring spot shares as high as 50 percent. Lee, who plays an elite South Korean spy, is one of the country’s most bankable movie stars and has a huge following in Japan. The production values rival Hollywood’s, with lots of explosions, car chases and shootouts, and since the plot involves tensions between the two Korean states, it is topical as well.

But what really sold TBS was the Japan angle. Some of the episodes take place near Laka Tazawa in Akita Prefecture, which means the series automatically received free prepublicity since almost every media outlet reported on the March 2009 location shooting, attracting hundreds of Japanese fans in the process. And ever since the series ended in South Korea last November, more than 15,000 Korean tourists have descended on the resort area.

The show’s producers originally contacted the Akita prefectural tourist office in October 2008 saying they were thinking of filming some winter scenes there and wanted the prefecture to pay all their expenses. The office immediately said “no,” since it had no money, so the producers called tourist offices in Aomori and Hokkaido but received similar reactions.

Akita had second thoughts. In 2001, Korea Airlines launched direct flights between Incheon and Akita airports, and tourism officials were afraid the carrier might discontinue the route, so they started talking to local businesses about “Iris.” In the end, a luxury hotel agreed to put the crew and cast up for free. The producers took the offer and rewrote the script to take advantage of the location. For Akita, the gamble paid off. (Ironically, the hotel itself hasn’t benefited since it’s priced out of the range of most South Korean tour groups.)

This story was dutifully explained in magazines and newspapers when “Iris” starting airing two months ago, so why isn’t it a hit? It seems obvious that TBS counted too much on ancillary PR and did not think carefully enough about the series itself. An unidentified writer whose specialty is South Korean television told the weekly magazine Shukan Shincho that TBS made the mistake of hiring popular young actor Tatsuya Fujiwara to provide Lee’s voice in the dubbed version. Japanese fans are used to voice actor Kazuya Takahashi, who has always done Lee in TV dramas and movies. Fujiwara has a “husky voice that’s sometimes difficult to understand,” the writer says. A different unidentified showbiz journalist pointed out to the magazine that each episode in the original South Korean TV version was 70 minutes long, but TBS has pared them down to 45 minutes in order to fit the hourlong time slot and allow room for commercials. As a result, many Japanese viewers will find the plot development “uneven,” according to the journalist.

Another explanation for the show’s poor ratings is that “Korean Wave” fans, and Lee maniacs in particular, have probably already seen the series, since it was broadcast with subtitles on TBS’s CS (Communications Satellite) channel in March. And the original South Korean episodes are relatively easy to purchase or download.

In order for TBS to garner ratings that mean anything during prime time, they have to attract people who aren’t normally Korean drama freaks, and in that regard “Iris” may not be that effective. The action-espionage component is better than anything Japanese dramas might deliver in the same vein, but compared to “24,” a well-known American action series that “Iris” resembles, it’s bloated and sometimes difficult to follow. And as the writer interviewed by Shukan Shincho says, spy dramas with political overtones “don’t appeal to Japanese TV viewers.”

But TBS is still trying. With more than half the series to go, the broadcaster has started a contest. Each episode opens with a QR code that viewers can read with their cell phones in order to acquire points that qualify them for a chance to win cash prizes worth up to ¥5 million. When all other plans fail, just pay people to watch it.

[News] ‘WGM’ Seohyun’s First Meeting with Yonghwa was So Awkward She Almost Cried!

It's been a month since Seohyun and Jung Yonghwa has first met. On their last trip as a would-be married couple, Seohyun reminisced their very first meeting. And said "I almost cried because it was so awkward"

On the MBC 'We got Married' (WGM) which was shown on June 12th, GIrls' Generation Seohyun and CNBLUE Jung Yonghwa went trip to Jungdongjin to decorate their last moments as a would-be couple.

Seohyun-Jung Yonghwa couple, who looked extremely awkward from the first meeting has become friendly after declaring as a would-be couple and going through few episodes.

Inside the vehicle where they met, Seohyun yelled out "seat-belt". Jung Yonghwa immediately fastened his seat-belt after saying "Ah...Yes". Seohyun said "We can't have an accident happening"

Regarding that situation, Seohyun confessed to Jung Yonghwa saing "I almost cried because it was so awkward".

But now, they are close enough to show off aekyos to each other with a pleasant expression, and play around with each other. Their end of living as a would-be couple is yet to come.

BEAST shows their red devil spirit

We’ve reported earlier about 2PM supporting the Korea National Soccer Team while the boys are currently in LA for the Wonder Girls’ tour. Many other celebrities have also tweeted posts while they were watching the highly anticipated Korea v.s Greece match for the World Cup.

Beast’s Doojoon was also one of these many celebrities, and he posted rather humorous photos through his Twitter account. He started off with posting a photo of Junhyung repping his spirit by wearing an afro which gave off an ahjumma (old lady) feel, but netizens have commented that it looked funny and cute nonetheless.

Doojoon posted a photo of him, Yoseob, and Dongwoon cutely posing with their red spirit wear. The caption was, “We wore red clothes today for the Korean warriors. I’m nervous!”

He also posted a photo of Kikwang and Hyunseung watching the match while they were riding in the car. You could just tell that they were carefully and nervously watching the match. Doojoon captioned, “It’s a disappointment that we had to watch the game in the car because of our schedules, but the fiery spirit was also present in the car. So nervous.”

Netizens who have eyed this photo have responded, “Kikwang looks so real,” “It’s a funny expression, but still cute.”

The Korea National Soccer Team is going against their second opponent, Argentina, for the World Cup. Will these celebrities be tweeting their support via Twitter again? I certainly think so.

Avex forms new idol group SUPER GiRLS!~

Avex held the final round of its “Avex Idol Audition 2010″ on Saturday at the Nakano Sun Plaza. Of the 24 finalists, 12 were chosen to form a new group called SUPER?GiRLS.

This was the first idol audition held by Avex since the company was established. Approximately 7,000 hopefuls applied for the audition, and the field was narrowed down to 24 girls in earlier rounds.

The 12 winners are:

Some (not me) have called Korean popstar Taeyang an Omarion imitator or a wannabe, but at least that boy can sing. Howang Wang, former Thai popstar from the kid boy group GIANT, who is currently trying to revive is nonexistent music career in Thailand, can barely dance, sing or rap, which makes this situation even more embarrassing.


Since his fall from fame way back when, Howard went back to Taiwan. He returned recently with a thick Chinese (Mandarin)-Thai accent, which some Thai netizens mocked, calling Howard Wang a guy who speaks nonsense. Yea, you should watch or listen to his interviews, his Chinese accent was so overpowering, I wasn't sure if he was speaking Thai when he really was. I know, I'm bad. It can't be helped he grew up in Taiwan. At least he is trying.

They say his Thai has improved since then, but as for his music career he should JUST stop. Howard signed with Imusic and released a single. His song is titled "Anyone", the music video for the song is a replica of Taeyang's "Where you at?" MV. The atmosphere, the dancing, the clothing, the everything is very similar to Taeyang's song and MV. Thai netizens are annoyed, they are embarrassed, and they are not stupid.

In the behind the scenes clip for the MV, Howard Wang's producer Vitamin A (What the fudge kinda name is that?) claimed they were trying to make Howard look more modern, be cool, with a hint of hip-hop. Producer Vitamin A claimed that they discuss the concept with Howard and other team members extensively to make this single and the MV aligned with Howard's personality and style. They were trying to make it original as possible. REALLY? What a load of bull.

As for the choreography, Howard trained for 2-3 months, it was very tiring, he said. The choreographers should have said they copied from Taeyang instead of saying they mixed a variety of hip hop dance styles together. No you didn't.

There is nothing wrong with Tpop, I like Tpop when it's good, when they are not trying to copy Kpop.

[News] Gil Wants Onew to Shave His Head

On the latest episode of KBS' Nocturnal, LeeSsang's Gil recommended taht SHINee's Onew shave his head.

During the recording for Nocturnal, Onew revealed, "I feel like I barely get any camera time." On the third episode, Onew was only seen eating and laughing.

Fellow show MC Gil then told him, "I'll teach you the correct way to go about variety shows." He suggested Onew to shave his head. All eyes were on Onew as he quickly accepted the offer, showing off his hidden wit. With Onew's sudden change in attitude, Gil expressed his dissatisfaction by commenting, "I think our characters overlap."

What do you guys think? Would you want to see Onew with no hair?

Popular girl group Kara transformed into cheerleader to cheer/support for national soccer team.
On 12 June 8PM at Seoul Gangnam Coex Megabox, Kara together with over 300 spectators cheered for Korea Team players on the 2010 South Africa World Cup first game(match) with Greece at Samsung Pavv 3D Triangular formation cheering Theater

Kara performed several hit songs started with 'We're with You' then 'Pretty Girl' as well as 'Mister' which lifted up the cheering atmosphere. Also, wearing a nice blend of red and white cheerleader Korea Team's outfit while singing in the eyes of 300 audience which made them very much entertained.

Before the performances Kara said "Finally worldwide South Africa worldcup festival has started", "We'll always cheer for you(the players), be strong and hope we get good results."

Two of Japan's popular idol groups—AKB48 and SKE48—will be performing a live concert for the first time in Macao in November. SKE48 is a Nagoya-based sister unit of AKB48.

2AM's Jinwoon unleashed his gag senses in South Africa. Jinwoon arrived at the Tambo airport wih his team and staff and started playing the guitar on a nearby bench once the wait time became unreasonably long. Unlike his singer image, he wore a boring track suit with the hood up, leading nobody to catch him as a celebrity. The natives even complimented his singing and tossed money into the hat he had out before him.

[NEWS] MBC & WGM producers furious with Kwon and GaIn

Will the Jo Kwon & GaIn couple be okay?

MBC's popular variety show WGM's representative couple, Jo Kwon and GaIn, has been cast under an uneasy shadow that shows no signs of retreatment due to a feud between the companies of WGM producers and the agencies of Jo Kwon and GaIn.

Endearingly nicknamed the 'Adam Couple,' the couple has pulled WGM to the height of its fame by pulling in fixed viewers with their charms. With the Cheonanham tragedy last April and threats of a strike, the return of the couple after four weeks brought flocks of happy viewers to the show's message board, leaving comments such as, "I'm glad we're able to see them again," and "They're so lovely."

But what brought the Kwon-GaIn couple into the gloomy shades of WGM's producers and MBC was due to a surprise appearance GaIn made on SBS's Family Outing 2. With Kwon already being a fixed cast on a rival company's program, MBC became furious once they found out that GaIn, too, had entered the show without permission.

Because of that reason, GaIn's group, the Brown Eyed Girls, were met with considerable obstacles in appearing in MBC's music program, Music Core, and were met with unfavorable circumstances. Jo Kwon's group, 2AM, were also met with the same cold treatment due to his casting in Family Outing 2.

Associates of GaIn and Jo Kwon expressed, "We didn't do it on purpose. This is ridiculous," regarding the two's participation in Family Outing 2. Although they tried to clarify this with MBC and WGM, their clarifications were refused, leaving GaIn and Jo Kwon's associates with feelings of frustration that they are trying to hide.

It seems as if the producers of WGM2 are having a hard time dealing with the fact that they put in so much effort in creating the 'Adam Couple' image and finally having it succeed, only to have a rival company's program steal all of that away. Not only that but SBS is currently the only company broadcasting the world cup, furthering the ill feelings with MBC and KBS.

With the addition of the Khun and Victoria couple, rumors also began to surface about the leave of the Kwon and GaIn couple, causing the producers to deny such rumors. However, it is true that the couple will be faced with shorter broadcast times.

Fans are also warning the producers of WGM2 that it was the 'Adam Couple' that brought season 2 of WGM where it is today. The success of season 1 was created by couples such as Andy & Solbi and Crown J & Seo Inyoung.

Although the Jo Kwon-GaIn couple is being met with resentment from the producers, it seems as if there will not be any major changes taking place with the show.

How wonderful is it to be a super idol? Hmph, makes me want to be a celebrity too.I guess the cake was given as a gift to them by the fans, maybe to eat while watching the world cup? Just a wild guess but i believe the members must be really happy when they eat such a beautiful cake.
