On various online community sites, a recent photo was posted of of solo singer and former member of legendary K-pop group H.O.T, Tony An. The photo shows his current state while serving in the army and it’s garnering a lot of attention.

With only 80 days left until Tony An’s serving time in the army reaches an end, this photo portrayed him looking rather cute and young-looking despite his age of 32.

Netizens have responded:

“How can you maintain a young appearance while serving the army?”

“He’s still cool nonetheless”

In 2008, Tony An entered the ChoongNam NonSan military training center, and after serving there for 5 weeks, he has been serving in celebrity military affairs.

BoA unleashes full MV for Woo Weekend!

With BoA’s teaser for Woo Weekend being released a couple weeks ago, the full music video was released recently through MTV Japan.

The theme focuses on a retro-style based from the 80’s, and was created for the 25th anniversary of “Disney on Ice” in Japan. BoA can be seen dancing to a clean, unique choreography that really fits with the song.

The boys of Super Junior have just released their 4th repackaged album and here’s some goodies from the album.

Version C of the album contains many photos of the boys and you can view all of the below. Surprisingly, troubled member Kangin makes an appearance in the photos as well. As a bonus, there’s additional photos from Super Junior’s official website.

The MV for No Other should be out soon so keep an eye out for it and the boys will be performing on the July 2nd edition of Music Bank.

For those of you who are wondering who Dooly is, he’s a cute green dinosaur created by Soo Jung Kim from the popular Korean cartoon Bo-Mool Sum (Treasure Island).

Taecyeon posted a photo onto his Twitter of his selca while strolling along the streets and striking the Dooly trademark expression with his puffed up cheeks and unevenly opened eyes, further expressing his face in response to the intense hot weather.

Along with the photo, he put up the words, “I was taking a stroll, it’s finally summer now~ I’ll be careful not to suffer from the heat!”

Still dorky as ever. Netizens have commented, “Cute~”, “Be careful of the heat”, “You were like that on the street?”

A showdown between Jo Kwon and Junho

2AM’s Jo Kwon recently posted two photos onto his mini homepage taken with 2PM’s Junho!

In the first photo, their masculinity and charismatic and electrifying stares are left untouched. However, the second photo does a total 180 degrees turn as Junho suddenly has entire left harm up and in locked position to flick Jo Kwon’s forehead, while Jo Kwon is trying to lean away from Junho.

Along with the latter photo, Jo Kwon added some more fun to this comical photo with the face off comment, “?? (What do you think you’re doing?).”

Netizens have humorously commented, “What does he think he’s doing? Junho, put your hand down”, “Jo Kwon flinched”, “Jo Kwon do the same thing as Junho.”

No magic to relieve Goo Hye Sun’s exhaustion

Actress Goo Hye Sun recently posted a photo on her mini homepage and it’s sparking a lot of laughs.

The photo shows her current condition as she posed with her mouth open and her tongue sticking out, portraying a weary look. Along with the photo, Goo Hye Sun didn’t forget to publicize the movie that she personally directed, Magic, and expressed, “I’m in slight pain. Huff huff.”

Having been busy lately filming and publicizing the movie, her schedule has been packed thus making her very exhausted and her current condition clearly shows in this photo albeit with a comical expression on her face.

Netizens who have eyed this photo have responded, “Huff Huff, cute pain Hye Sun.”, “Hope the movie becomes a daebak”, “The movie premiere theater is small huff huff, Hye Sun has become exhausted.”

Teen Top to debut in July with Clap

Having revealed their faces earlier this month, it was revealed that the newest boy group, Teen Top will be making their official debut in July, with their title track, Clap.

Even before their debut, they’ve been garnering attention from many for starring in their own reality show airing on MTV called Vice Guide to Everything. The program will chart the boys in-depth training program and will give an in depth look into the Korean system of grooming their idol groups. The program was recorded in April and is scheduled for broadcast this September.

In addition, one of the 6 members who are all in their teens was discovered to have starred in Seo Taiji’s Human Dream MV in 2008 and is called Ricky.

Yet another lawsuit filed by three members of TVXQ

Yet another lawsuit was filed by three members of TVXQ. This time it is worth ~$25 million.

It has been reported that three members of TVXQ (Hero Jae-Joong, Micky Yoo-Chun, Xiah Jun-Soo) filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment. The members claimed that SM Entertainment profited off from their exclusive contracts that were illegal and therefore had to return all of their profits that SM had received during the contract term. The members are suing SM Entertainment for total of ~$25 million in damage.

So Ji-Sub’s first response to his wedding rumor with Han Ji-Min

Last December, there were hundreds of news articles in Korea all claiming that actor So Ji-Sub and actress Han Ji-Min will soon be married. So far, the marriage has not had happened and  So Ji-Sub had finally decided to speak regarding the rumor, after six months since beginning of the rumor.

So Ji-Sub said, “I was both surprised and shocked by the rumor. I didn’t know where the rumor had started and didn’t know how to response. I think it was worse for Han Ji-Min because she was an actress. I was close with Han Ji-Min before but now we don’t keep contact with each other.”

So Ji-Sub continued, “My last love was right after I had finished my military service. After it, there were temporary ones but quickly went away because I was so busy with work. I want to love with passion as my charater did in the drama Road Number One.”

It has been told that all 4,000 tickets were sold out 5 minutes after it began selling its tickets and many fans had to look for secondary ticket sellers to buy the tickets, demonstrating how popular the drama You’re Beautiful was in Japan.

Kwon Sang-Woo found innocent of his hit-and-run suspicion

Here is a dirty little anecdote for you if you get caught hit-and-run in Korea: run, run, and run!

The police on June 26th revealed that Kwon Sang-Woo will not be charged with hit-and-run suspicion. That is because there wasn’t any damage conflicted to a human. The police stated that in Korea, hit-and-run is only charged when there is damage done to other people and Kwon Sang-Woo only did damage to non-human objects.

Also, Kwon Sang-Woo initially claimed that his manager was the one who was driving but at the final testimony revealed that he was the one who was driving, and therefore he will not be charged with lying either.

Many netizens are outraged by police’s decision saying that next time you get caught hit-and-run, you should run. However, it has been told that the Korean police is not giving him special privilege in this case and Kwon Sang-Woo just simply found a loophole.

Taeyang’s audio teaser for “BREAKDOWN” released!

As each day goes by, we get closer to the release of Big Bang's Taeyang upcoming first full length SOLAR album. YG Entertainment plans to release minute long audio samples of Taeyang's tracks for six days until the 30th, with the album dropping on July 1st.

Lee Minho endorses LG Optimus smart phone, heading to Singapore

South Korea’s second largest conglomerate, LG, recently released a new android powered smart phone called the LG Optimus GT540. This new phone was recently introduced to Singapore and popular actor Lee Minho has signed up to be an endorser for the phone.

Lee Minho is scheduled to be in Singapore on July 31st for a special fan meeting at the new $5.7 billion Marina Bay Sands resort, a place befitting for someone like Goo Jun Pyo. The first 1,500 purchasers of the LG Optimus GT540 will receive two tickets to this special event. If you’re lucky, Singaporeans may even get a chance to see Lee Minho swimming at the amazing infinity pool.

Ironically, Lee Minho’s on-screen girlfriend Goo Hye Sun from Boys Over Flowers is endorsing an android device herself.

On the recent episode of Fantasy Match – Love Class, Super Junior's Sungmin appeared where it was revealed that it’s difficult for him to get a girlfriend because of his one piece dress. [news] Kwon Sang-woo to stay on TV series ‘Big Thing’

Despite speculation that actor Kwon Sang-woo will pull out from his upcoming TV series tentatively titled “Big Thing” after coming under fire for colliding his car into several vehicles and then leaving the scene, producers have reaffirmed their position to keep the actor on the show.

“Kwon Sang-woo will not step down [from the show] — it is our CEO’s conviction that we will go with whoever we decided on in the first place,” an official with producer Lee Kim Productions told Asia Economic Daily over the phone on Monday.

Kwon had taken the country by surprise last week when he was belatedly known to have been indicted on charges of fleeing after colliding his car into several vehicles, including a police car, more than two weeks ago.

Police had originally reported the case as a hit-and-run but is said to have turned over the case to prosecutors as an incident in which Kwon did not take immediate action for the damage he inflicted since there were no casualties involved and damage was done only to property.

Top Korean actress Ko Hyun-jung, who will play the heroine of the series, was said to have signed onto the show on the condition that Kwon will play the male lead.

“Big,” based on a comic book series, is about a first-class gigolo played by Kwon, who helps a human rights lawyer played by Ko, to achieve her dream of becoming Korea’s first female president.

The show, set to go into shoot starting July, is scheduled to premiere on October 6.

Kwon has starred in several dramas and movies since his debut in 2001. He rose to stardom in Asia after starring in 2003 TV series “Stairway to Heaven” and has recently been promoting war pic “71 Into the Fire.”

Korean actors Lee Ji-hoon and Oh Jong-hyuk have been cast in a musical production titled “Thrill Me,” according to the show’s producer Musical Heaven on Monday.

Lee will play the role of “he,” a nineteen-year-old who believes he is above everyone else, while Oh will portray “I,” who is from a wealthy family and has everything but takes part in a crime out of his distorted love for Lee’s character.

“I feel like I am taking on a new genre because it is a musical but it’s a two-person play that has strong theatrical elements,” Lee was quoted as saying. “I will be completely absorbed in the character ‘he’ and show you a great performance on stage.”

Oh also expressed his anticipation toward his new role, saying “I am very nervous and feel pressured as well… But I will concentrate on ‘I’ from the moment the show starts till the curtain goes down.”

Lee, 31, debuted as a singer in October 1996 with the single “Why the Heaven.” He has released six studio albums and one special album as a project group “S” with his close friends Kangta (of boy band H.O.T.) and Shin Hye-sung (of Shinhwa).

He has also crossed over to acting, appearing in several television dramas and films including “Wet Dreams 2″ (2005), “New Heart” (MBC, 2007) and “You Are My Destiny” (KBS, 2008).

Oh, 27, debuted as a member former pop/hip-hop group Click-B and went solo after the group disbanded in 2002. He made his musical debut in “On Air – Season” in 2008 and also appeared in MBC’s daily drama “Enjoy Life” (MBC, 2010).

“Thille Me,” which started its run on May 14 with six other actors, is based on a real-life homicide that occurred in Chicago in 1924.

Lee and Oh will start performing next month at The Stage theater in Seoul’s Shinchon district. Further details about their schedule will be available on July 8.

[news] Yoon Eun-hye as female star in TV remake of ‘Comrades’

Korean actress Yoon Eun-hye has been chosen as the female lead of a Korean remake of the popular Hong Kong movie “Comrades, Almost a Love Story,” according to the show’s producer Verdi Media on Monday.

Yoon will be playing the role of Yoo Chae-hwa, a Korean residing in China, in the remake tentatively titled “Love Song” alongside Korean actor Park Yong-ha, an official at Verdi announced through a press release.

The official added that the actress’ return to the small screen is already creating buzz not just domestically but also internationally — Verdi has been receiving inquiries regarding the publication rights for “Love Song” since all of Yoon’s previous works had been received favorably in Japan and other countries overseas.

“Comrades,” starring top Hong Kong actors Maggie Cheung and Leon Lei, was the top-grossing foreign film in Korea when it released in 1997. The movie is an epic love story between two Chinese mainlanders who meet and fall in love in Hong Kong.

The remake is set to begin shooting in late July and scheduled to hit the small screen at the end of the year.

Yoon Eun-hye made her debut as a member in the girl group Baby VOX in 1997. She has appeared in numerous variety shows and entertainment programs after leaving the group in 2005.

She rose to stardom after starring in the smash hit TV series “Coffee Prince” and in “My Fair Lady.”

She is currently helping out children in Africa as a part of a UNICEF campaign titled “Never Alone” with SS501 member Kim Hyun-joong.

Actor Kwon Sang-woo, who was belatedly known to have been indicted on charges of fleeing after colliding his car into several vehicles more than two weeks ago, is expected to receive a fine for the incident.

“There is a high possibility the case will be closed with Kwon receiving just a fine,” an official at Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station told Asia Economic Daily over the phone on Sunday, saying that the case was turned over to prosecutors as an incident in which Kwon did not take immediate action for the damage he inflicted.

The case was originally reported to be a hit-and-run but the official explained there were no casualties involved and damage was done only to property such as objects and vehicles.

Earlier, police had also stated that Kwon had been driving on the wrong side of a road in the posh affluent Cheongdam district before the accident occurred but the official said “there was some exaggeration” and that the actor rather had crossed over a centerline to turn into an alley.

Confusion ran throughout the country last week when news broke out that Kwon, also one of the most popular Korean actors in Japan, had been involved in an alleged hit-and-run.

Police had said he had collided into a parked car when police discovered him driving on the wrong side of the road, then ran his car into the police vehicle trying to back out from the collision, and drove away for about 300 meters before hitting a flowerbed.

He abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene, showing up at the police station two days later to undergo investigation for the incident.

Kwon’s agency explained through a press release on Friday that the actor’s car had “slipped in the rain and collided into a parked car,” running into the police vehicle while he was backing up his car to take necessary means to take care of the accident.

Kwon then tried to park his car in front of a wedding hall where the accident occurred, but hit a flowerbed in the parking lot. He panicked and left the scene, but a source close to Kwon later showed up and admitted to the accident.

The agency added that Kwon is “deeply regretting his mistake due to poor driving and his leaving the scene.”

Kwon has starred in several notable television dramas and films including “My Tutor Friend” (2003) and “Love, So Divine” (2004).

His most famous role to date however, was in the 2003 TV series “Stairway to Heaven”, which co-starred another Hallyu star Choi Ji-woo and became a smash hit throughout Asia.

He currently stars in the film “71 – Into The Fire,” which is based on the true story of 71 student soldiers who fought during the Korean War.

Korean pop singers Girls’ Generation, IU and Seulong triumphed on televised music programs over the weekend.

Girls’ Generation received the award for the best song for the first half of the year 2010 on KBS’ TV music show “Music Bank” with the title track from their second album of the same name “Oh!," beating out 2AM’s “I Can’t Let You Go.”

“Oh!” had dominated K-pop charts for five consecutive weeks from February 5 to March 5.

The nine-member girl group is considered one of the most successful pop idols in the country since their debut in 2007. They have released several hit tracks including “Gee,” “Tell Me Your Wish” and “Run Devil Run.”

Meanwhile, the latest collaboration “Nagging” by songstress IU and 2AM member Seulong, released on June 3, scored its first Mutizen award on SBS’ music program “Inkigayo,” also making it the first-ever win for the songstress since her debut in 2008.

“We didn’t think the song would be such a hit. We would like to thank all the fans who loved the song,” the two singers said in their acceptance speech.

Other contenders on both shows included CNBLUE, 4minute, MBLAQ, f(x) and Seo In-young.

Korean girl group f(x) recently topped a music chart in the Philippines, making it their first time to rank atop a chart overseas.

According to a report by 10Asia on Friday, the five-member female idol group took the No. 1 spot on the album chart of Filipino music retailer Astroplus during the week of June 14 to 20 with their latest single “NU ABO.”

The girls had been successful at promoting the mini-album in Korea since its release on May 3 with the title track topping numerous music charts in the country.

While the girls have been a sensation in Korea since their debut in 2009 with single “LA chA TA,” they had never sealed a No. 1 position overseas.

f(x), composed of Sulli, Krystal, Luna, Amber and Victoria, are managed under talent powerhouse SM Entertainment.

Korean actors Ku Hye-sun, Choi Daniel and Ock Ju-hyun have left for Broadway to start shooting upcoming TV series “The Musical.”

They will be filming their location shoots in Broadway of New York, which will show how the three characters first meet each other in the city.

Ku, who plays the role a medical student dreaming of becoming a musical actor, will be making her much-awaited comeback to the small screen since starring in last year’s smash hit TV series “Boys Over Flowers.”

Choi, who rose to stardom after appearing in the popular sitcom “High Kick Through The Roof” (MBC, 2009-2010) has been cast as a genius composer while singer and actor Ock will portray a diva in the musical world named Bae Gang-hee.

“Musical,” a story about the passion and romance among the producers, songwriters and actors in a musical production, will shed light on the world of musicals.

The show will be written by noted writer Kim Hee-jae who penned the hit films “Silmido” and “Another Public Enemy.”

Introducing Ji In of Girl’s Day

We reported earlier that a new 5-member girl group called Girl’s Day would be making their debut on July 9th under DreamTea Entertainment and they have now released more information about the group members.

Having recognized an international fan forum and doing flash mobs, DreamTea Entertainment has now gone a further step in introducing the group’s members to fans. After Min Ah, the next member to be introduced is Ji In with a video about her being uploaded via their official Youtube channel. Follow her on Twitter too!

We have reported yesterday about the introduction video of the maknae in Girl’s Day being uploaded onto their official youtube channel. Well, just a few hours ago, like what we expected, they uploaded another member’s video. This time round, its Ji In of the group. She looks pretty refined and sweet so check her video out!

The members of the group also helped to promote the video on twitter and have been tweeting frequently just to update their fans of their doings.

[Video/News] Baek Boram apologizes to Boss’ fans

MBC 'Bokbukbok Season 2? features Nam HuiSeok, Lee ByungJin, D-NA's Karam Baek Boram eating rare food products from China. In this episode, Baek Boram chose D-NA's Karam to eat a seahorse. How did it go?


The members kept their distance from the plump seahorse since it was their first time seeing an edible seahorse. They claimed, "It looks better when it's all dried up".
Being the only female in the team, Baek Boram had the option to choose which member gets to taste the seahorse. After much thinking, Baek Boram chose Karam and stated, "I'm gonna get antis for this".

Karam was seen unable to eat it in the first few tries and Baek Boram grew overwhelmed and quickly apologized to the fans. However, Karam managed to finish the task by chewing it fast and swallowing it hard. The members applauded for his courage.

Try to watch the episode as you see the members of the show taste more unusual sea creature cuisines such as sandworm pudding, fried sandworm, and frogs!

[news] Invincible Youth flies to Japan to learn the Japanese way of farming

KBS “Invincible Youth” cast hits the road and leaves for Hokkaido Japan on the 29th to film for a new episode.

The crew said on the 28th, that G7 will be leaving for Hokkaido in Japan on the 29th and they will be staying there for 2 nights and 3 days to film for the show.

This is the first time the show will go oversea’s and they will be learning the Farming techniques of the Japanese rural villagers and their way of Life and nature.

According to the PD of Invincible Youth on the 28th, “The filming will take place in a famous town where it often rain’s and they will experience a new local agriculture life. We will try to capture the beautiful scenery in the village and this will be the first time we will be filming oversea’s”.

The members will be interacting with the residents of the town and will also experience the local spa, as well as the farm experience and also scheduled to have a fan meeting.

They chose Hokkaido because of it’s popularity in the town’s abundance of farm and agriculture living, As well as they were given the opportunity to visit the town as well.

[news] Jo Kwon’s special serenade to Gain to be released as a Digital Single

Jo Kwon will be releasing a solo digital single titled “The Day I confessed”

On the episode that aired last 26th, Jo Kwon made a surprise confession to Gain as the song he sung to her which he titled “moving song” will be released as a digital single but with a different title. The song which was worked on by a new composer was made as a gift to Gain.

2am’s agency said, “Jo Kwon has made a surprise event for Gain as we were flooded with requests from fans to hear the song he sung to Gain, we have decided to release it as a digital single”.

The composer Shim Eun Ji worked on the song and finished it. It is about a confession of a guy to a girl, and even if the song at first sounded bad, thanks to the bright personality of Jo Kwon, the song was completed.

The digital single “The day I confessed” will contain a more mature lyrics and melody and will be an upgraded version of Jo Kwon’s serenade to Gain.

[news] Seo In Young, Gahee and Bada confirmed for new variety program ‘Heroes’

After School Gahee, Seo In Young and Bada has been confirmed for the new variety program “heroes” on SBS.

On the 28th the officials of the show has confirmed that they will be fixed members on the show for the follow up program “heroes” that will replace “Gold Miss” for SBS’s Good Sunday shows.

Also confirmed on the show are T-ara’s Jiyeon, Noh Hong Chul, Lee Hwi Jae and Noh Sa Yeon.

Seo In Young has stretched her schedule for her to be able to join this program, since she is promoting her first solo album right now.

This new variety program will start filming on the 5th and 6th of July and the first episode will be aired on the 18th of July. Also, the MC’s for this show are Lee Hwi Jae and Noh Hong Chul that are a sure winning combination for the show.

2am member Jinwoon has updated his twitter account on the 27th sharing a picture of his mother.

Jinwoon said, “This was when my mom was my age! hehe” Showing a photo of his mother at a young age.

Jinwoon’s mother had a neat hair and has a face really similar to Jinwoon.

Netizens comments were, “Jinwoon’s mother was so beautiful! Jinwoon is like her brother!”, “She’s really pretty”, “They look so alike, they look like a brother and sister at the same age”.

There has been reaction that Jinwoon is just like her mother as their striking resemblance reflected on the picture.

Today, Super Junior’s version C Bonamana repacked album has been released featuring new songs such as “No Other” , “A short Journey” (which made me almost cry after not hearng Kangin’s voice for such a long time, “All My heart” and “Shake it up! remix version”.

This is a really meaningful album to Super Junior as this is the last time Kangin would be participating in Super Junior for the next 2 years since he will be entering the military on the 5th of July.

Nicole and Thunder transform into English mentors for new reality show!

Among all the celebrities in Korea today, we know that there are quite a handful of idols who can speak fluent English.

We’ve seen many of them struggle to grasp the Korean culture and language as they transitioned into this not-so-familiar territory. Well, it appears as if we’ll get the chance to see a couple of these idols ease back into their comfort zone and speak English, all the while enriching others’ education!

Today, a new cable program called Mom, I’m Going Crazy Because of English had their first broadcast. While the show may sound dull due to its educational nature, the show features KARA’s Nicole and MBLAQ’s Thunder as English mentors. This new reality program is designed to introduce English language know-how’s to Korea’s youth in a fun and exciting way.

In the first episode that Nicole and Thunder filmed together, they taught English know-how’s through American cartoons and currency. This unique way of learning English was actually inspired by Thunder’s personal experience. He revealed that he also learned English through American cartoons and currency when he immigrated to the Philippines at the age of five.

On the show, the two shared, “After you select your favorite program genre, first watch the show with Korean subtitles, then with English subtitles, and finally watch it without any subtitles. Because we watched these programs in this manner, we started to gradually use English as well…If you regard English as a fun subject, rather than a hard one, you probably will be able to cultivate your English skills easier.”

In addition, the PD hinted at more guest appearances as he stated, “We believe that the cheers and advice of idol stars will greatly encourage the children [to learn English]. Singer Rain’s famous English teachers Lee Yoon Jin, Oh Sung Shik, and CulTwo’s Jung Chanwoo are also expected to be cast as English mentors to help kids learn English through fun know-how’s.” And you thought that learning a language was boring!

The only thing that irks me about Thunder’s method of learning English (or any other foreign language for that matter) is the time it’ll take to actually go through TV programs three times. Imagine watching one whole drama series three times! But on the bright side, you’ll now have an excuse for watching all those addictive Korean programs!
