For Common People is the brand new, full-length album from the eclectic, unpredictable and always loveable Eel. For over ten years the group has been releasing their own brand of whispering techno-pop, energetic bossa grooves and stylish background music. Gradually they've evolved into a more up-front experimental pop project with memorable hooks and an upbeat vibe. For Common People also has an extended pedigree, as it was co-written with Ryoma Maeda aka milch of source. He has also teamed up with picopop/Shibuya-kei band Plus-Tech Squeeze Box to form Tropico Q, releasing Hard Rock Pafe, an album of electro-pop covers of classic hard rock songs. Of course all of this comes hot on the heels of the Kung-Fu People Etcetera compilation that Eel released just a few months ago. Newcomers to the Eel sound might want to take some time getting to know them by checking out this collection of songs from both Kung-Fu Master and From Other People. It also has some tweaked versions of old songs and two totally new songs, making this something that even long-time Eel fans should enjoy.
